Maria Blanca Kamel is the director of Museo de Arte Coro (MUCOR), a branch of the Caracas Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MAC). It features though-provoking and well-presented temporary exhibitions. The museum collection includes both valuable representation of Falconian as well as national and international artists. MUCOR promotes the conservation, dissemination and education of visual arts from Venezuela with emphasis on the Falcón state. Developing an educational work aimed at valuing and understanding the importance of art and its creators. MUCOR houses the Visual Arts Biennial of the City of Coro.
Kamel is a professor at the University for the Arts UNEARTE in the graphic design department. Kamel has held positions of coordination and management at the Institute of Culture of the Falcon state for 16 years. She initiated the regional traditional rag doll exhibition and Art Gallery of the Incudef Santa Rosa. Kamel is an advisor to cultural events such as the Bacoa Art Exhbition, Ventana Cultural (Cultural Window) and Community Museums La Vela, Monsignor Jaurie and the Casa Museo Locos de la Vela. Her work for the Falconian culture has earned important distinctions, highlights being the delivery of *Polita Lima 2011* and the Municipal Prize of Graphic Arts 2005.
Kamel visits Curacao for short trips on a regular basis as her husband artist Jhomar Loaiza is currently Curacao based. She wants to connect and develop a network with the artists of Curacao to include them in possible future exhibitions and exchange projects with Venezuela.
Kamel will present a lecture on community museums. A community museum presents the uniqueness and heritage of communities (f.e. Kas di pal’i maishi, Museo di Tambú Shon Cola). The lecture is given in Spanish.
