ART AND SCIENCE LAB BONAIRE IS A PLATFORM AND SPACE THAT WANTS TO EXPLORE THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN ART AND SCIENCE, AND HOW THESE CAN STIMULATE INNOVATION IN ART PRODUCTION, BRING LOCAL VOICES, AND HIGHLIGHT DIVERSITY IN LIVED EXPERIENCES TO A BROADER AUDIENCE.

The program offers a space to explore collaborations and perspectives, exchange knowledge, and contribute to the heritage and documentation of the islands’ histories. It is also a space for visual artists to develop their skills in artistic research, look into new methodologies as well as create works of art from these new findings.

Art and Science Lab Bonaire will occur in May and June 2024 in Bonaire.

It consists of working sessions, lectures, excursions, and atelier/art production sessions. During this program, you will get the chance to:

Contribute to the collective understanding of your community for you and future generations.

Observe and gather new perspectives on different spaces on Bonaire.

Ask new questions, widen your visual perspective, and hear different views on contemporary issues on Bonaire.

Interpret your perception and opinion relating to contemporary issues on the island of Bonaire

If you have artistic goals, you can get different tips on developing your artistic practice further, both locally and internationally.

Suppose you have academic aspirations or are working in academia. In that case, you can experiment with new artistic methods and develop new skills in approaching research at the intersection of art and science.

Learn ways to distribute your new or exciting artwork in an exhibition and/or online.

Produce new artwork in your medium of choice based on your experience and new knowledge received during the lab.

PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM IS FREE OF CHARGE BUT DOES REQUIRE ONE TO SIGN UP IN ADVANCE. SIGN-UP IS OPEN UNTIL THE 25TH OF APRIL 2024.

THERE IS NO CHARGE TO PARTICIPATE, BUT PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO PURCHASE AND BRING THEIR MATERIALS FOR THEIR ARTWORK.
