Margriet Kruyver

Art Historian

Margriet Kruyver is an art historian, head of department and tutor at the Audiovisual Department (VAV), Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Previously, she worked at Arti et Amicitae, an Artists’ Society in the heart of Amsterdam, where she curated exhibitions, wrote articles on art and made catalogues and books. Her current practice at the Rietveld involves giving direction to the department and together with her team, she organizes student-projects, exhibitions, and publications.

In 2005, Margriet started working with the Ateliers ’89, and in 2008 Gerrit van der Hout joined the organization. Together they curate the program and look for funding in order to make Ateliers ’89 the lively Institute where young people and the public of the island can discover their artistic endeavors and develop them. With several Caribbean institutes like Fresh Milk, ARC Magazine, and the IBB, Margriet works on Caribbean Linked bridging the gap between the islands by stimulating dialogue on contemporary art practice. Margriet is a jury member for the Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds (Netherlands).
